Correct Flexion and Rigid Heel Support
A proper work boot should only bend at the forefoot where your toes naturally flex. If a boot bends through the midfoot or arch, your foot muscles are forced to overwork, leading to fatigue and strain that travels up the shin. Furthermore, a high, firm heel counter is essential. A rigid heel cup holds the rearfoot in alignment, preventing unnecessary rolling and keeping the ankle stable while walking on uneven terrain.
Lacing Adjustability and Shock Absorption
Adjustability plays a huge role in controlling foot movement. A boot featuring both laces and a side zipper allows you to pull the upper snugly around the instep and ankle, locking your foot into place.
